Ray and Vi Young would love to have you stop in for a visit at their 83 Mile House
Museum. In the 1860's 83 Mile House was one of the many roadhouses that sprung up
along the Cariboo Waggon Road which was built to access the Cariboo and the gold
fields. Teamsters would switch horses here so they had fresh teams to pull the big
hill ahead, now known as Begbie Summit, on Highway 97, just south of 100 Mile House,
in the South Cariboo of British Columbia, Canada. The barn in which these horses
were kept still stands today and is now full of carriages, cutters, and sleighs.

As well as the old barn, and it's contents, there's numerous buildings scattered
around the Museum site, each with it's own collection of antiques, be it dairy
equipment like milking machines, household items, blacksmith tools, wheel right tools,
carriage lamps or kerosene lamps, gramaphones, and horse harness.
Even without going through the buildings you could spend hours just looking over all
the horse drawn farm implements and wagons that are displayed just about every where
on the property! Have a look at the
What You'll See page for a better idea of what's on display - including lots
of photos.
